Alfred Sieglitz and Georgia O'Keefe Story
I found the story kind of interesting because their story is documented through their letters early on. It sounds a little weird how it explained that Seiglitz lusted to take photos of O'Keefe in the beginning. I more interpreted that it showed the passion he had for photography and O'Keefe as a person. It was even more weird knowing that he was 52 and established when they met, while she was 28 and unknown as an artist with ambition. Even though Seiglitz was unhappy in his first marriage he still felt that he could live out his dreams and he wanted O'Keefe to be apart of that life. I found it very inspiring how even though they both found a way to live with each other and marry later on they still had passion for their crafts. O'Keefe really wanted to be an artist and have her work recognized world-wide. Even though Seiglitz was a photographer he still struggles with how he is going to provide for his new life with O'Keefe. This story shows that sometimes their is a constant struggle with love, passion, and relationships. I find it kind of bizarre that when they both married in 1924 that they had marital issues. They couldn't agree on having children, O'Keefe didn't like that they stayed with Seiglitz's family in the summer, and the age difference I feel played a role in that later. In my opinion I feel like the best thing O'Keefe did was go to New Mexico to find herself. It seemed like Seiglitz was holding her back from being the woman that she wanted to be and Seiglitz couldn't handle her absence.
