Week 4
This week I took photos all over - my home, with friends, at the Connecticut Science Center. All photos were taken between Tuesday and today. I had to rhyme or reason- it was when I saw an interesting shadow.
Starting at the top, I'm blown away by how beautiful this first picture is. The infusion of light from the window it's out of focus and you're in close point of view make this very sensitive and introspective. It takes are assignments which are focused on the basics and elevates the art of photography to a more profound and emotional level. Beautifully done.
Number two is a classic for this assignment. Paying attention to how light plays through the Venetian blinds and your sheer curtains is spot on. It might be worth doing several of this scene, experimenting with moving in closer.
Number three is great just the way it is. You point in the camera downward, clearly seeing a focal point with the offset cross in the middle, as well as the intricate play of light, the repetition of the black lines that creates a unity, and the detailed texture, all come together to make a perfect shot for this assignment.
Number four is lovely as well. The sparkle of light through the class elements of the light and its projection on the wall, and the out of focus picture frame in the lower right all contribute a sense of memory. Nice work looking at the light and shadow.
This is a fun classic… I like how the camera is tilted to the right in this case, creating a V-shaped between the person and her shadow. I like how she is cropped off as well.
Finally number six has clean simple shapes and light projection on the wall and its curve is just nice the way it is.
I like how you mentioned that you just paid attention to the way light and shadow worked in everything without having to have a specific theme in mind.
A beautiful series, Stephanie.
