  1. This weeks assignment was difficult for me! I have a whole new appreciation for photography and the work that photographers put into their work. This was a great class, good luck to everyone in their future Mods! -Pax

  2. Beautiful series of a beautiful man Tiffany. You discovered that when it comes to photographing people, there's a lot more involved than photographing the flower or rock. The main idea for this assignment was to learn to see directional light and to put the light on the front of the face, and to move in close and find a relaxed truthful way to portray your subject.

Starting with the top one, I like the introspective quality very much. The light area behind his head is a bit of a distraction… I see you'd edited it down so that it wasn't so bright… The area behind his neck is still a little bright however.

Number two is perfection. See how the light is falling across his face? The darker values of the boards behind him, and the directional light coming in from the right side, as well as his quiet reflective demeanor makes this the perfect example of what I'm hoping for in this assignment. This one is worth framing.

Shooting up into the light source in number four weakens this tremendously. When you can firmly see the difference between number two and this one and how the light changes everything you'll be on your way to much stronger photography.

Number five is sweet and sympathetic… The white storm door behind him as a little bit of a distraction…

The sixth one came out better than it should have because you're looking into the light. A better approach would of been to turn him, so that he his face was looking out towards the light… Your camera is handling this extreme contrast pretty well.

Thanks for being the first to post on each of these assignments… You have helped set a standard for the rest of the class to follow. Best wishes!
