This set is of my niece Sofie, who is 3 years old. It was very difficult to catch her with more of a natural face and to keep her in place by the window. I also tried different times of the day to see when the best sun shine came through. The window is on the left and I used a white poster board just outside the camera frame to reflect the light back on to her face. I have a new appreciation for the cost of a professional portrait photographers. The pictures were edited with PIXLR.
EDIT* I darkened Sofie's dress
Edit* I used the full version in color
Super, Alisha... you got the intent of this assignment and did a good job.... I reduced the size of one of you pictures down to "large" so that they all fit in the main window. To see your pictures larger, click on one and they ope up to a slide show that takes up the whole screen.
ReplyDeleteThe third one down is superior to the two above it because you didn't crop her face into a tight square... elongating the frame give her body back. The third and fourth are perfect for this assignment... The is coming across her face with just the right quality and it is soft and diffuse as it should be... her white dress is holding detail. I like the color version more as she has beautiful skin color and the white dress does not pull your eye away from her face as it does in the black and white version. A remedy would be to darken just her dress in the B and W one and see how you like it.
3 is perfect... she is old enough to take direction but not so old that she is resisting and putting on a "camera face" that you can't overcome.
All in all, a beautiful series... The quality of light makes all the difference....
